讀者 Peter 在一份報(bào)告讀到下面一句：The teacher recommends that due consideration be given to easing crowdedness at student learning areas and computer rooms. Peter 問 be given 可否用 is given 代替？
英語(yǔ)中有些動(dòng)詞，包括 recommend、propose、suggest 等，都有建議、提示的意思，而建議或提示的內(nèi)容，多以 subjunctive mood 表達(dá)。如：我看了一部好電影，想推薦給朋友 Tom 去看。
I recommend Tom see the film.
Tom 雖然屬第三身單數(shù)名詞，但由于用上 subjunctive mood 的緣故，動(dòng)詞 see 不用加 s。
Peter 提出的句子，也運(yùn)用了 subjunctive mood，不同之處在于 Peter 的句子用了被動(dòng)式（學(xué)習(xí)環(huán)境及計(jì)算機(jī)室的擠迫情況要「被」考慮到），一般來說，due consideration is given to... 是沒錯(cuò)，但因?yàn)橛昧?subjunctive mood，所以變成 be given 了。
